Here’s an overview of some areas to stay in Ubud:
- Ubud Center: Staying in the heart of Ubud provides easy access to popular attractions, art galleries, vibrant markets, and a plethora of dining options. However, traffic can be an issue in the centre, especially during peak hours and going short distances can take forever. Accommodation here range from budget-friendly guesthouses to upscale resorts.
- Penestanan: Just a short walk from Ubud’s centre, Penestanan offers a tranquil and picturesque setting amidst rice fields and lush greenery. It’s a quieter area, perfect for families seeking a peaceful retreat.
- Campuhan Ridge: This area offers stunning views and a more serene ambiance. Accommodation here often provide a quieter escape while still being within reach of Ubud’s main attractions.

Transport:
To navigate around Ubud, renting a scooter is a convenient and cost-effective option and by far the most popular.
However, keep in mind that traffic can be challenging, especially in the central area. If you prefer not to drive, taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are readily available and a safe way to get around.
You could also hire e-bikes but bear in mind Ubud has hills!
